These are tips I've either learned from making games or playing them. You can choose whether or not to follow them
but nonetheless, should be read for consideration as well as the fact that I do try to make them funny.
Kris's Game Design Tips #1: If the player character is unable to swim (aka dies on contact with water), do not have water in your game. Having a player die like this is cliched and pathetic for you as a designer (Face it, you are not Tim Schafer and he'll be last one to ever pull off the die by water). Instead of using water, I suggest using lava. No one is immune to lava. This tip is because of Assassin's Creed and the fact that I see this all too often in games still. By the way, I reference Tim Schafer in regards to Psychonauts (and if you still don't know what I'm talking about, pick.Up.Psychonauts.Now. Your existance as a gamer depends on it). ©2006-2007 Kristopher "neoSpider" Jordan unless noted. |
